Major Function

Border Control (illegal activities) and police the Import Duties Act.

 

 

 

 

Main priorities and challenges:

To upgrade all aspects of the operation so as to be in line with the international standards, and in contemplating this, seek assistance, not limited to financial aid, to achieve such goals without aid would put too much pressure on our national budget;

To realise required international /regional resolutions, agreements, and MOU's that would harmonise operational issues and to put forth these for legal drafting and/or adoption.

Debating sensitive issues in regard to MOU's normally take longer and so is a time consuming effort; resolutions, on the other hand, require us to adjust our National Laws, and are usually requirement(s) under much stronger bodies like the UN Security Council.
