The OCO will participate in the Seventh Non-State Actors (NSA) Dialogue Workshop on PACER Plus at the Warwick Le Lagoon Hotel in Port Vila, Vanuatu on 31 May 2017.  The Dialogue is organized by the Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat (PIFS) and the Office of the Chief Trade Adviser (OCTA), with the financial support of the Australian and New Zealand governments.

The role of Customs administrations in PACER Plus is an important one in particular the implementation of Customs Procedures and Rules of Origin. The OCO is the regional Customs body in the Oceania region whose main role is to facilitate and assist administrations to align with customs international standards and best practice. The OCO through the assistance of Australia and New Zealand governments have also commenced work in assisting customs administrations to enable them to address the Customs matters in the Agreement in particular the implementation of the Harmonised System 2017.

Customs to Business engagements is  encapsulated within  the OCO Strategic Plan 2017-2022 hence participation at the NSA Dialogue will provide the opportunity to hear out the views of those who are directly involved in conducting trade and business activities and to further foster effective coordination in implementation of PACER Plus.
